Full game text:

You are members of the Norwegian biathlon team, specializing in skiing and shooting. Only your very specific skills (along with your wit and determination) can save the day.

Make Your Biathlete:

1. Choose your career in the off-season: model, civil defense, farmer, ski instructor, construction, pediatrician, short story writer/cartoonist

2. Choose your approach: bold, eccentric, queer, stoic, aggressive, awkward, statuesque

3. Choose your number, from 2 to 5. A high number means you're better at SHOOTING (guns, aggression, eyesight, staying still). A low number means you're better at SKIING (moving quickly, crossing obstacles, looking good, being smooth).

4. You have: skis, a gun, bullets, warm clothes, fancy clothes, a sponsorship patch, a Scandinavian name, a commitment to excellence.

Player goal: Get your character into trouble and support other players.

Character goal: Get yourself into trouble and try to preserve your life, your name, and your nation's reputation.

Rolling the Dice:

When you do something risky, roll a die. If you're prepared and/or an expert, add a die to the roll for each, respectively. Compare the dice results to your number.

If you're using SHOOTING, you want to roll under you number.

If you're rolling SKIING, you want to roll over your number.

If none of your dice succeed, things go wrong.

If one die succeeds, you manage, but there's a complication or cost.

If two dice succeed, you do it just right.

If three dice succeed, you do it and then some. Extra effect!

If a die rolls your number exactly, you SKISKYT (SKI SHOOT). You succeed at whatever you were trying and get to either ask the GM one out-of-character question, which they must answer truthfully, or add a reasonable but exciting detail to the world.

GMs, Choose a Scenario:

- Characters must win the 19XX Olympics, get one member of your team married, and ruin the reputation (and possibly love lives) of the obnoxious Americans.

- Rich fascists are vacationing at the ski resort you’re using for off-season training. They must be ousted!

- The Russian team is actually a strikeforce of Bigfoots in disguise. Marry one. Send the rest packing.

- Aliens have used an anti-Sun ray to create another Ice Age to soften up humanity before conquering them. Only the characters can stop them.

- Characters appear on a game show where none of your athletic skills are useful. They are played entirely for laughs.

- Ullr, god of skiing and hunting, has come to judge humankind. Only the characters can overcome his trials and impress him.

Complicate Things at an Inopportune Time:

- Someone only wants to capture what should be killed.

- Your greatest rival will marry you if they win or let you win if you sabotage your teammate's wedding.

- A famous actor or retired bi-athlete shows up and gets in the way.

- The Bigfoot disguised as the Russian is actually a Russian disguised as a Bigfoot disguised as a Russian, and you shouldn't blow her cover.

- The aliens will let you live since you've proven your worth.

- Ullr will let humanity survive if you join him in Ski Hel.

- The king of Norway (or someone disguised as him) gives a surprising command.

- A big win (getting an alien weapon) turns into big trouble (and now the aliens focus on you).

- Blizzard or avalanche.
