"All the worlds ended together: heavens and hells, kingdoms and wastelands, and everything in between. As they broke apart, the Heartless Princess saved the bits she could, shoving them together and crowning the resultant Patchwork World with her Icy City to hold it all together."

Patchwork World is:

  • a no-playbook, no-stat fantasy game; choose a couple moves and you're ready to start
  • powered by the apocalypse, meaning you'll need two 6-sided dice and not much else
  • 70 moves that you can easily port to almost any other game

Your download comes with:

  • an 84-page PDF rulebook
  • a 31-page Play Materials document, including a form-fillable character sheet, 70 unique moves (such as Magnificent Weapon, Stoned Investigator, Crystalline Garden, Become Cats, and more)
  • a plain-text version of the above

I don't understand what this sentence means in the manual: "And if you, the human player, don’t belong to a marginalized identity, don’t put it in your Personal Tags at all."

Patchwork World is unconcerned with convention, it does not care about white space or polish. It is a text that cares about its reader, future players, and trusts they will care more about its content than its cover. It’s a game that I want so badly to be the model for indie designers everywhere, because it’s first and foremost about its words.

Yes, this is exactly it! Thank you.

Hey there! I made a set of play sheets in the Role App:

Let me know if you have any recommendations to improve them

Whoa, thank you so much! I have no idea how Role works, but I appreciate the work you put in. Okay if I share these?

Absolutely ok! Share away!

Hi, I am the Chinese translator of this book. I successfully resolved the network issue and registered this account. I just want to say that this rule is really great, It is a particularly easy, fun, and suitable game for beginners.I love it!

Thank you for the kind words and the translation!

I put this together for solo play and thought maybe other solo players might find it useful as well 🙂https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PGsuShjrXbFzkmL84tJUN9OorlhPbRgd/view?usp=drivesdk

This is very cool, thanks so much! Is it okay if I tweet this out? Do you want to be tagged?

Absolutely! You can tweet this out and share anywhere else you'd like. I do not have a Twitter account so I am not sure if I can be tagged there but if it is possible you have my full permission to do so. Thank you for creating such a fun game! 🙂

If anyone needs a character keeper, feel free to save a copy of this one I made for some friends:

Now that I got it: This is so cool! There's so much for me to learn in this design AND I can't wait to play this game.

Amazing - I’ve been getting fascinated with Alice in Wonderland-esque adventures and I definitely want to try this out. Like how narrative focused it is.

I am so looking forward to getting my hands on this! Are there no more community copies to be made available?

Patchwork World has got a grubby magical sense of place that's familiar and otherworldly and never too sweet.  It's a fantasy but it's got good bones & messy people and plenty of trouble to get into.

Troika! A la pbta 🤗

Patchwork World is a banger and a half. This game is surprising, hilarious, constantly inspirational and tremendously accessible. I want to play every move and experience every encounter on the roll tables. It makes me--a wildly uncreative person--want to create things. It makes me want to climb inside its weirder, gentler worlds, and live there. It is a *delight*.  11/10 would play a goat-footed muppet necromancer again.

I can not say it enough, but this is one of my favorite games ever, and I'm so happy it's finally out.
